Jan Esmann is one of the leading danish artists of the contemporary figurative painting in Scandinavia. Modern contemporary art, especially modern contemporary painting, has turned towards a renewed interest in the craft of figurative painting. Modern contemporary art is no longer modernist art, but postmodernist art, and as such a renewed interest in the almost lost craft of figurative painting, that modernism killed off, is only natural. As modern artists, in the true sense of the word modern, we have to reinvent classical painting in a new form of figure painting.
