Jan Esmann

My works are deeply spiritual. Apparently they contain pain and suffering, but really they are about the moment when the ego gives up and you open to something higher. All my works depict the moment when you have just given up and the spiritual is just about to enter. In this moment there is a longing for the divine, for the true Self. I depict the small self and it's pathetic urge to remain in control and I usually depict it in the moment when control has just been lost and a vision of the true Self is dawning.
